Here’s a quick overview of my TextMate setup. It’s mostly for my own reference but I’d be glad if anyone else find it useful.

Plugins

ReMate for working with remote file systems.
Missing Drawer gives TM the look and feel of 2005 app. Also some other nifty features.

Bundles

Ruby, the one that comes bundled with TM.

My own theme, based on this Heroku theme.
Pry Frente 16px folder icon by Jonas Rask for the drawer.

Quartz Composer Color Clock

Got inspired by The Color Clock that made the rounds on Twitter this week.

The Color Clock is written in flash and is available in the form of a screen saver but I wanted something that wouldn’t drain my batteries (or use extensive CPU cycles at all, think of the trees goddamnit!) so i came up with this Quartz Composer version instead.

You should view it as a work in progress, but it’s fully functional. You can download it here.

OS X Text Substitutions

A little known feature of OS X is something called Text Substitutions. Text Substitutions comes with a few sensible defaults like ( c ) → © and TM → ™.

Since I use “;pPppPPppPppPppPpPpp” all the time I thought it´d be a time saver to channel the power of automatic substitutions. Now whenever I do “;P” i get “;pPppPPppPppPppPpPpp” (if I have enabled Text Substituitions in the app).

In order to enable this feature you have to right click a text field in any Cocoa application and select Substitutions → Text Replacement.

How to disable Tweet in Safari

I really like Twitter for Mac but as a web developer it´s a real pain when I want to Inspect Element but instead miss-click the Tweet item. You’d think Twitter added the contextual menu item through some sort of extension but that´s not the case here. To disable it we have to edit a Service!

Open System Preferences.
Go to Keyboard and then select the Keyboard and Shortcuts tab.
Uncheck the Tweet menu item like so

New year = new blog. I´m trying out toto, the minimalist git-based blogging engine. So far everything´s pizza and hookers.
